Samaritans
Samaritans answers a call for help every 10 seconds. Our volunteers listen, without judgement or pressure, and offer people and communities support in times of need. They are there in the early hours of the morning when there’s nowhere else to turn. People from all walks of life contact us for lots of different reasons – no problem is too big or too small. Whatever they are going through, a Samaritan will face it with them.
Around 23,000 volunteers in more than 200 branches across the UK and Ireland keep us at the heart of local communities. Last year, our amazing volunteers answered over 3 million calls for help. They are active in their communities, working with schools, workplaces, hospitals and railways to offer training and support, preventing suicide and letting people know that we’re here for them.
Our life-saving service is dependent on our incredible supporters, including our partnerships within the rail industry, who raise vital awareness, attend training to prevent suicides, fundraise or give their time to Samaritans. Without their support we couldn’t do what we do.
